Eszter Biró
My general interest is in identity and identity loss, the understanding of our selves from the personal and from society's perspective. My focus for the last two years has been women, and women's emancipation from 1930's Hungary, till the 1950's when they got equal citizenship of the country. I believe the changes that occurred at this time for women has affected my generations understanding and roles as women. My work is based on my personal experience of being woman, based on myself and various generations of family members and on society's. While research is significant in my work it is a studio based practice. I am thinking through my understanding of the medium of photography - playing with its weakness.
