Laura Wright
Throughout the last two years Laura Wright has been producing images which should be viewed in sequence and which over time have evolved into a series of carefully staged performance pieces. These improvisations are purely for the camera and are to be viewed as still images recording an event which is already a memory. This work is directly related to issues of femininity, time, space and the gaze. In these images not only is it an inner gaze, which she inflicts upon herself, but at the same time it is also a female gaze as she is a female photographer. She turns the gaze back upon herself. As she is unidentifiable her body is a symbolic "everywoman".
