Source is interested in seeing new previously unpublished projects for publication and has an open and ongoing submissions policy. We publish a variety of work but we would encourage you to see what kind of material we publish by looking at the material available on our web site.
To give us focus, Source only publishes work made in the UK or Ireland - or by photographers from the UK or Ireland - on its portfolio pages. International work is covered through our book and exhibition reviews.
To submit work, email a pdf with up to 8 images and contained within it up to three paragraphs of text that give a background to your new work along with your name, CV, contact phone number and web address. Files must be no more than 15 Meg. Emails should be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org with Submission in the subject line. Alternatively, if the project is available on your web site you may send us a link to it.
If you don't have email access post up to 6 prints with the information above. Unfortunately we can't return material unless you enclose return post and print box.
Unfortunately as a small staffed arts organisation it normally takes up to two months for us to process submissions.
Exhibition and Book Reviews:
If you have a forthcoming exhibition in the UK or Ireland or a book that you would like us to consider for review please email an initial press release to: email@example.com
Source Magazine Research Trip:
Material for Future Issues
As part of research for future issues Source will be organising meetings with individual photographers/artists to find out about new photographic work. The meetings are an opportunity to directly introduce a new piece of work to one of the editors. This is one way Source finds new work for publication in the 'portfolio pages' section of the magazine. The next of these will take place at:
•Saturday 19th April 2014
Source Office - Belfast
Deadline for pre-selection:
Friday 4th April 2014
Email submissions to: firstname.lastname@example.org
There are always more people wanting to meet with us than we can fit in on the day. So we operate a pre-selection process. In the first instance please email a PDF of you work. We are interested in personal projects that have not been published before. (Short run Artists' books with a print run of less than 250 are fine.) The PDF should contain the following:
•Up to 8 images (screen resolution the overall file should be no more than 15 Meg).
•A two paragraph introduction to your work.
•Your web site if available.
•Your name and contact phone number.
Alternatively you can email a link to a specific body of new work on your web site. Please include your name and phone number on the email. From all the submissions we will pick out 8 people to meet up with on the 19th April.
Although Source embraces variety, please familiarise yourself with the magazine before sending material. Samples of previously published work can be viewed in the online archive. Unfortunately there is no fee for publication.
