Each year as part of Graduate Photography Online we ask a number of professionals from the world of photography to review all the photographic work submitted and choose their favourites. We hope this makes an interesting introduction to the project as a whole.
Fotohof Team
Birgit Sattlecker, Gabi Wagner & Herman Seidl
Fotohof Salzburg, an Austrian Institution for contemporary fine art photography, represents and supports national and international author photography. Accordingly to this, the twelve works of our review were selected. The main criteria of our choice were the development of one's own picture language and the consequence in the artist project. The serializing character of stories, the individual view of the photographer, regardless if observing or constructed photography or a mixture of both, as also a kind of media-reflexive working, were important decision points for us. As further parameter were presumed: the idea behind the project, the way of creating the production, as well as socio-political relevance. Technical aspects were unaccounted, as the evaluation online would not be precise enough. Some Universities with their focus on communication / design showed as well an amount of high quality works well respected from us, but for our artistic demand on photography they were not short-listed. We invite each participating student of our selection to contact us via e-mail.
