The Destructive Comfort of a Thinking Machine
To establish my own connection between existence and comfort, I look at my hometown of Keady, by psychologically observing the spaces within through a fictionalised lens in order to reflect on my own experience of living here with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and the ways it controls my thinking. I found myself becoming too comfortable inside of an imagined reality and the realisation of this decaying places’ state made me feel like I was aging too fast, that I too would die along with it. The only way I could feel like I wasn’t part of my negative surroundings was to realise nature’s ability to adapt and restore, which led me to understand my own self as indistinguishable from nature.
