Our archive of waste
‘Our archive of waste’ is a photography project revolving around the subject of consumerism and some of the issues of single use plastic. These works communicate the timescale at which our waste spends on the planet after we’re done with it, much of it around for generations of people to come. The images show artifacts of human history in the form of ruins of buildings up to a thousand years old, upon which the photographer has placed sculptures of plastic waste on in the shapes of formations inspired by nature, that may take the same amount of time to biodegrade. This is a way of comparing the past archives of humanity to the present, asking the question ‘what is the archive we want to leave?’
