The Elysian Fields
The Elysian Fields are the resting place for the souls of the pure, a place in limbo, between heaven and hell, life and death. These photographs are a culmination of thoughts and experiences in relation to my fear of consciousness, or lack of. The rooks symbolise this suspension of time as the mediator between life and death. The Divine Raven created this world and everything within it, and thus men are born from a raven god, an ubermensch of sorts. By the daily ritual of photographing these birds that act as shadows, and recording their ritual acts also, I enter an entirely different perspective of life itself. The aim is not to overcome fear, but to harness it.
