A Generation Removed
This work explores the narrative of Caribbean migration to Britain, focusing on themes of black heritage, migration, and community. The Ipswich Caribbean Association (ICA), a non-profit organisation led by individuals in the black community, was once situated on Woodbridge Road. Before its closure in 2012, the ICA played a vital role in providing a safe space to the Caribbean community in Suffolk. This project explores its cultural and social impact, including its history, programmes, and importance to the many people and groups that used its services and facilities. It will delve into the challenges of immigrants, shedding light on systemic racism and the process of adapting to a new way of living and culture.
